Science Unwittingly Solves One of the Mysteries of Creation
,
Mysteries in the Bible have often been discredited for lack of proof. Similarly, unfathomable, cryptic messages that have no confirmation in contemporary scientific knowledge, logical reasoning and understanding, fail tests of acceptability in the modern world. It is not unusual for scientists to challenge Christian beliefs citing failure to duplicate experiences documented in the Bible, absence of other known examples and seemingly "unscientific" reports. Indeed, sceptics see Christian belief as antithetical to science. Until recently, this skepticism has been the fate of interpretations of Genesis 2:21-22.
The message that God took a rib from Adam to create Eve has loomed as incomprehensible fiction to reasoning evolutionists. Not so today. The scientific practice of genetic modification has provided a framework for understanding the message in the context of modifying the genetic make-up of man to create a woman.
The account of creation in Genesis 2:21-22 documented the previously unintelligible mystery that a rib taken from Adam was used to create Eve. Today we may say: God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took genetic material from the man and then closed up the place with flesh. Then God made a woman from the genetic material he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.
The account of creation rings clearer in the context of gene manipulation that is familiar to today's sciences, It helps us to perceive the Biblical account about the origin of human life with greater scientific insight. Until now, that belief held by Christians has often been regarded as an unsolved mystery unproven in science.
Many exciting theories have attempted to account for the origin of man by applying rationalizations from various levels of human intelligence and understanding over time. One of the many shortcomings of theories of evolution as a factor in origin is their consistent inability to explain and account for the simultaneous arrival (through whatever supposed rationale), of a compatible human pair. In contrast, the account of creation, though perhaps previously incomprehensible, contains no missing link and specifically addresses origin.
Although the message in Genesis has historically been a mystery, the new scientific comprehension of the mystery does not alter the Biblical account believed by Christians before the process was understood as genetic modification.
